Jewish Community Council
Joins Inter-Ethnic Parley

The Jewish Community
Council will participate in
an all-day inter-ethnic
seminar 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
June 24 at the McGregor
Conference Center at
Wayne State University.
The seminar is sponsored by
the Detroit Inter-Ethnic
Council.
Dr. Arthur Brown of
Wayne State University's
College of Education will
deliver the keynote address.
Lt. Gov. Martha Griffiths
will be the luncheon
speaker.
Theme for the seminar is
"Diversity and Unity: Mak-
ing It Work for Our Ethnic
Communities."
Participants
will
explore new, skills and
citizenship training in
four concurrent work-
shops entitled, "Coopera-
tion for Fighting Ra-
cism," "Cooperation for
the Preservation of
Culture/Cultural Aware-
ness," "Cooperation for
Fighting . Crime and
Promoting Justice,"
"Cooperation for the De-
velopment of Political
Mobilization," - and
"Cooperation for Social-
Action."

tions Committee of the Ann
Arbor Jewish Federation,
the Benton Harbor Jewish
Community and the Jewish
Community Council of Met-
ropolitan Detroit are
spearheading an effort to
establish a formal "Michi-
gan Jewish Network."
Jewish community lead-
ers throughout the state
will be invited to an early
October program to be held
in Lansing in order that the
network may become opera-
tive.
At the October meeting it
is planned that there will be
national speakers on Israel
and domestic issues.
Goals of the gathering
will be to develop a
statewide communications •
system by formulating a
mailing list of community
leaders and an informa-
tional organization to share
community issues and
events. A regular newslet-
ter will be published by the
network.
