man who has been missing
since April 19, according to

hal, director of ADL's Latin
American Affairs Depart-
ment. •
Rabbi Rosenthal said that
the disappearance of Carlos
Alberto Bamballi is "par-
ticularly shocking because.
the Argentine government
insists that the practice of
abducting people has come
to a halt."
Since the military took
power in 1976, thousands of
persons "disappeared" in
Argentina during a period
of political turmoil. Some
later surfaced as prisoners
but most have not been
found and are presumed
dead.

his remarks at the annual

NEW YORK — The
British chapter of ORT
(Organization of Rehabili-
tation Through Training)
will co-sponsor an Interna-
tional Ram's Horn Cham-
pionship in England later
this year.
The event, which is aimed
at reviving interest in the
art of shofar-blowing, will
help raise money for the
ORT John F. Kennedy Ap-
prenticeship Center in
Jerusalem.

Landmark Opens

Amsterdam's historic
Sephardic synagogue, a
landmark over 250 years
old, has been reopened for
services on the Sabbath and
Jewish holidays.
