Cantor Chaim Najman
reported this week that the
hundreds of requests for
tickets for the annual Peter
and Clara Weisberg concert
at Cong. Shaarey Zedek
indicate a capacity audience
for the annual event next
Tuesday evening.
A limited number of tic-
kets are still available for
the free concert, and can be
obtained in person at the
synagogue office.
Cantor Najman attached
special significance to the
appearance at the concert of
violinist Joseph Silverstein,
a native Detroiter who is
concertmaster and soloist
with the Boston Symphony.
Silverstein is married
to former Detroiter Ad-
rienne Shufro and his De-
troit relatives include his
uncle, Harry Silvers, and
a cousin, Dr. O.D. Silvers-
tein.
Silverstein's father, Ber-
nard, was a violinist, music
teacher and director of De-

War, and held other top-
level assignments.
