The figure for 1982 was 13,176, an increase of 14 percent_ over the previous year's 12,032. The ministry expects this year's figure to be 15,000. The 1982 increase in- cluded a 20 percent rise in aliya from Western Europe to 3,648. Some 2,840 North American Jews came to Is- rael to live, a rise of 20 per- cent, while the figure from Latin America rose by 40 percent, to 2,039. The Israeli branch of the Canadian-based center was selected to publish the re- port on irrigation following interest expressed in Israeli irrigation systems by ag- riculture specialists from Arab countries.
