Dr. Max R. Beitman has
announced his retirement
as chairman of the depart-
ment of medical services at
the Jewish Home for Aged
after 24 years of service.

During his tenure at the
Jewish Home for Aged,
Dr. Beitman established
several consultative pro-
grams including Sunday
Family Conferences. In
cooperation with Sylvia
Serwin, associate direc-
lor of the home, Dr. Beit-
man was instrumental in
attaining Medicare cer-
tification for the Home
when Medicare was first
introduced in 1966.
Formal retirement cere-
monies will occur at the
Jewish Home for Aged's
June - board of directors
meeting. In honor of Dr.
Beitman's service, the
Home is creating the Dr.
Max R. Beitman Award.
This award will be pre-
sented to those future
health care professionals
who merit recognition for
their service to the Home.
