MONTREAL (JTA) — A
coalition of trade unionists,
political figures, Palesti-
nians and Socialists has
been formed to protest a
scheduled visit to Montreal
by former Israeli Defense
Minister Ariel Sharon.
The coalition sent a tele-
gram to Prime Minister
Pierre Elliott Trudeau ask-
ing him to forbid "the war
criminal Sharon" from
entering Canada.
If, however, Sharon does
come to Montreal, the coali-
tion warned that it would
organize a massive protest
rally. Sharon is expected
next Wednesday to help in a
fund-raising campaign for
the Shaare Zedek Hospital
in Jerusalem.
The coalition includes
members of the National
Assembly of Parti
Quebecois; the Quebec
Workers Trade Union; the
-St. Jean Baptiste Society;
the Palestinian North
American Congress; the
Greek Socialist Party, and
Yvonau, the president of the
65,000-member teachers
trade union.
