TEL AVIV — For weeks
the Rabbis of Gur and Wis-
nitz have demanded from
the Knesset deputies of the
Aguda faction, Rabbi
Shlomo Lorincz and Rabbi
Menahem Porush that the
money which is given by the
government to Aguda in-
stitutions should be con-
trolled and distributed by a
special Control Commission
and not by Lorincz and
Porush.
The Rabbis of Gur and
Wisnitz and other Hasidim

criminated against by
Rabbi Lorincz. The Aguda
faction of four Knesset de-
puties is divided between
the representatives of the
Rabbi of Gur (Rabbi Ab-
raham Shapira) and the
Rabbi of Wisnitz (Rabbi
Shmuel Halpert) on one
hand, and the representa-
tives of the Lithuanian
Hasidim, Lorincz and
Porush.
It is a long conflict. There
is also a conflict about the
Likud agreement, accord-
ing to which only four
Aguda deputies are elected
to the Knesset. The fifth
candidate in the list, Yosef
Melamed, a Yemenite from
Rosh Haayin, would enter
the Knesset after two years.
The Rabbi of Gur main-
tains that as Lorincz and
Porush have been in the
Knesset for many years,
one of them has to give up
his seat in favor of
Melamed. Lorincz and
Porush, supported by
Rabbi Shach who is
chairman of the Council
of Torah Sages, insist
that one of the two other
deputies should give up
his seat.
The Aguda seeks a corn-
promise in this delicate
matter. There is a proposal
that all four deputies of the
Aguda should not be on the
