In Washington on Sun-
day, Detroiter Edward Rose
will be inducted into the
Housing Hall of Fame.
Rose, 87, began building
in Detroit in 1921. His com-
pany, Edward Rose and
Sons, now operated by sons
Sheldon, Irving and Leslie,
has built more than 75,000
houses and apartment units
and for many years was the
largest residential builder
in Detroit and among the
largest in the Midwest. It
was heavily involved in the
building up of Northwest
Detroit, Oak Park, South-
field, Bloomfield Township,
Farmington Hills, Bir-
mingham and Troy.
