B LS.-Walled Double-Agent'
in Critique of MEPolicy

in.11.11w- MIAMI — John McMul-
Ian, executive editor of the
Miami Herald, has accused
the Reagan Administration
of playing the role of a
"double-agent" in the Mid-
dle East.
McMullan, in a recent
editorial column, charged
that "the United States has
left both Israel and its foes
' sharing the confusion that
emanates from Washing-
Washing-
ton." In the column, McMul-
lan urged President Reagan

to make a trip to Israel so
that he might realize "how
vulnerable Jerusalem and
Tel Aviv are to Palestinian
attack if Israel does not con-
trol the West Bank:"
"The long term reality is
clear," the column con-
cluded, "Israel is still the
only nation in the Middle
East that shares our demo-
cratic philosophy and prin-
ciples of conduct. When the
real crunch comes, it will be
our only true friend."
