Rabbi Norman T. Roman
will discuss "Who — and
What — Is a Jew: Questions
of Personal Status" at an
open meeting of the Lilian
Bernstein Lecture Series,
sponsored by the Junior Di-
vision of the Jewish Welfare
Federation, on May 12. The
meeting will be held at 8
p.m. in La Med Auditorium
of the United Hebrew
Schools.
Rabbi Roman will look at
what determines whether
one is really a Jew and how

such trends as increasing
intermarriage affect our
identity as Jews.
The associate rabbi of
Temple Beth El in Bir-
mingham for the past year,
Rabbi Roman graduated
from Hebrew Union College
and has served congrega-
tions in Cleveland and
Santa Monica. In addition
to his work with Temple
Beth El, he has been chair-
man of the committee on
youth activities of the Cen-
tral Conference of Ameri-
