Science degree in psychol-
ogy at Central Michigan
University. Her fiance
earned a Bachelor of Arts
degree in psychology at
Wayne State University. A

Potok to Speak at Temple

Author Chaim Potok will
speak on "The Impact of
Secular Humanism on the
Future of Judaism" at 8:30
p.m. May 11 at the Bir-
mingham Temple.
Many of Potok's books
have dealt with confronta-
tions between Orthodox
Judaism and Western cul-
ture. His books include "The
Chosen," "The Promise,"
"My Name Is Asher Lev,"
"In the Beginning," "Wan-
derings" and "The Book of
Lights."
Potok holds a PhD de-
gree in philosophy from

University
of
the
Pennsylvania and was
ordained a rabbi at the
Jewish Theological Sem-
inary of America.

was announced by Harold
Berry, president of the
Michigan Chapter, Ameri-

in June 1982. He is cur-
rently president of AKIM
U.S.A.
In addition to his many
community activities, Zuc-
kerman, with his wife He-
len, maintain the Paul and
Helen Zuckerman Combi-
nation Nursery, Day Care
Center and Youth Center in
Jerusalem and have dedi-

cated the Paul and Helen
Zuckerman Auditorium
and Conference Center at
Sinai Hospital in Detroit.
In 1982, Zuckerman was
made an honorary governor
of the Hebrew University of
Jerusalem.

PARIS (JTA) — The
Foreign Ministry an-
nounced Tuesday that it is
trying to obtain the release
of three French nationals
arrested by Libyan
authorities last Jan. 13 and
held incommunicado in a
Tripoli jail since then.
Two are construction
company technicians ac-
cused of espionage for Is-
rael. No specific charge has
been leveled against the
third man.
The Foreign Ministry
said the French Consul in
Tripoli has visited the pris-
oners, identified as Chris-
tian Dionisi, 52; Jean-Luc
Bachman, 45; and Jean
Pichon, 35. Their incarcera-
tion was disclosed when the
Libyans released a fourth
French engineer they had
arrested at the same time
but later allowed to leave
the country.
