reported. Wide publicity is
given a book called "The
History of the European SS"
authored by Leon Degrelle.
Martinez recalled that
the Federal Police
banned the sale and cir-
culation of Nazi prop-
aganda in Argentina
three years ago in re-
sponse to complaints
from democratic groups
and Jewish organiza-
tions. But the same
works, produced in
Argentina, are reappear-
ing. Only the name of the
publishing house has
changed — from Militan-
cia to Avanzada.
According to Martinez,
"There are many indica-
tions that certain sections of
the Federal Police and
Army admire the Nazi
cause and means of internal
security. Although the
Argentine Federal Police
has perfected the technique
of banning publications, it
fails to do so in this case,"
Martinez reported.

Cultural Exodus
from Hitler
Detailed in Book

WASHINGTON —
"The Muses Flee Hitler," a
347-page book examining
the mass exodus of intellec-
tuals from Europe during
the Nazi regime, has been
published by the Smithso-
nian Institution Press.
The book is based on two
colloquia held in 1980 by
the Smithsonian to honor
the centennial of Albert
Einstein's birth. (Einstein
was a refugee from Nazi
Germany.) The multi-
disciplinary discussions
featured scholars from
across the United States
and from Western Europe
who presented essays on the
experiences of refugees in
the United States and other
nations.
The book, with 20 contri-
butions by colloquia par-
ticipants, covers the period
from 1930-1945 and exam-
ines a wide range of disci-
plines — the social sciences,
literature, music, architec-
ture, physics, chemistry and
mathematics.

Stiff Competition

TEL AVIV (ZINS) —
Moshe Yehuda of Israel's
citrus marketing board says
that Israel's $100 million
export trade with West
Germany is facing stiff
competition from Greece
and Spain, which offer
lower prices because of re-
duced freight charges and
less chance for spoilage.- Is-
rael, however, offers
superior quality.
