Righteous Gentile

Danny Raskin's

LISTENING
POST

QUITE AN HONOR and
tribute to Bee Kalt . . . was
recent 25th anniversary
celebration at Cong.
Shaarey Zedek . . . Over 500
guests donated $10 per per-
son to the Sidney Kalt Israel
Scholarship Fund at Cong.
Beth Abraham Hillel Moses
. . . and enjoyed a beautiful
evening.
The hors d'oeuvres passed
around by Quality Kosher
Caterer Paul Kohn's very
fine employees were superb
. . . prepared by Chef Ted
Katapodis . . . many of
which folks have never seen
before . . . Ever hear of
pickle in a pastry puff? .. .
or corned beef turnover? .. ,
His sweet table, as usual,
was excellent.
Bee Kalt Travel's highly
respected presence in the
industry is notable by the
gifts given throughout the
evening . . . travel dona-
tions from so many of her
fine suppliers . . . Only re-
cently, Bee was one of
Channel 56's largest givers
of gifts for its auction . . .
about $25,000 worth of
travel goodies.
The evening of cocktails,
hors d'oeuvres and dancing
ended with the Bee Kalt
office staff dancing as the
crowd filtered out following
drawing for the last prize
. . . an Alaskan cruise
(cruises and tours galore
were given).
ERRATA DEPT. ..
Sorry for the name and
school mixup . . . Sheryl

lyn and Iry Markel, and
Marla Manela, daughter of
Nate and Eunice Manela,

Michigan State in Los
Angeles . . . Marilyn sent
for tickets to NBC's "Joker's
Wild" TV show and the girls
attended . . . Sheryl was
selected as an audience par-
ticipant and became a big
winner of cash and prizes
. . . The show will be aired
May 6 on Channel 4.
BILL OLSEN of Green
World Lawn Spray will be
first guest . . . discussing
lawn maintenance, includ-
ing fertilization and weed
control . . . on new 13-week
series, "Plants and People
With Skandia" ... Thurs-
day over WCAR Radio 1090,
8-9 p.m.
FLORENCE GOLDS-
TEIN recently showed her
will and two-year experi-
ence in golfing . . . to over-
come the 40-years experi-
ence of hubby Ronald . . . On
the second and ninth holes
of San Marino Golf Course
in Farmington Hills, she
chipped in shots from 30 and
40 feet off the green . . . di-
rectly into the hole . . .
Ronald admits he is lucky

LOS ANGELES — More
than 200 people paid tribute
to a Romanian-born "Right-
eous Gentile" who saved an
estimated 2,000 Hungarian
Jews during World War II,
at a special Yom Hashoah
(Holocaust Remembrance
Day) program at the Simon
Wiesenthal Center.
Stefan Krisan, 61, a busi-
nessman now living in Los
Angeles, received the cen-
ter's "Certificate of Honor"
from Rep. Bobbi Fiedler
(R-Calif.) for his role in sav-
ing Jews by crossing the
border from Romania into
Hungary and smuggling
Jews out of the country. He
worked very closely with
the Jewish underground.
