THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Author Who Saved Jews Dies 63 OBITUARIES LOS ANGELES — Author Corrie ten Boom, who was credited with sav- ing the lives of more than 700 Jews during the Holocaust, died April 15 at age 91. Miss ten Boom was sent to a concentration camp for protecting Jews, and sur- vived to write 18 books which sold more than seven million copies. SADIE BABITCH, 87, died April 19. She leaves two sons, Daniel and David; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. * * * ANNA BROWN, 82, died April 15. Survived by his wife, Sarah; two sons, Allen M. of Plano, Tex., and Philip of Southfield; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Anne) Kovsky; a brother, Menache of Germany; and four grandchildren. Dr. Bernard Wechsler, a podiatrist with offices in Detroit, died April 15 at age 78. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Wechsler retired six years ago. He was a member of Pisgah Lodge of Bnai Brith. He leaves a son, Dr. San- ford of College Park, Md.; a daughter, Elaine Weingart; a brother, Sanford of Ber- keley, Calif.; and one granddaughter. * * * FANNIE DIEKTER, 73, of Lapeer, died April 20. Survived by three sisters, Mrs. Ben (Blanche) Klar, Mrs. Libby Miller of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Ethel Salter, also of Los Angeles.
