Avshalom Katz to Entertain
at Day School Fund Raiser

Avshalom Katz will pro-
vide entertainment at the
25th anniversary fund-
raising dinner for Hillel
Day School scheduled May 1
at Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
Cocktails will be served at 6
p.m. The Bill Meyers Group
will provide music for danc-
ing.
Katz was born in Argen-
tina and immigrated to Is-
rael in 1962. He was edu-
cated at the Haifa Academy
of Music. While in the army,
he participated in the rab-
binical choir of Israel's De-
fense Force.
He later appeared profes-
sionally on many radio and
television programs in Is-
rael, and has since per-
formed throughout the
United States, South
America, Mexico, Australia

Handleman Prize
to Be Awarded

NEW YORK — Dr. Ed-
ward Teller, nuclear physi-
cist; Dr. Arno A. Penzias, a
Nobel laureate; and Nathan
J. Rapoport, sculptor; will
receive the Joseph Handle-
man Prizes from the Jewish
Academy of Arts and Sci-
ences on May 11.
Dr. Abraham I. Katsh,
president of the academy,
said that prizes of $1,000
would be presented to the
three.

teacher at several Jewish
day schools and director of
an adult choir.
