BARGE- BUHR, 95, died April 7. Sur- vived by her husband, Julius; two sons, Bernard M. and Frank P.; a sister, Mrs. Max (Sadie) Morris; and eight grandchildren. ** * IDA KARBAL CHINN, former Detroiter of Balti- more, Md., died April 9. Survived by her husband, Gen. Yoffe Dead at 69 TEL AVIV (JTA) — Maj. Gen. (res.) Avraham Yoffe, a commander in the pre- state Hagana and in the Is- rael army, died April 11 at age 69. - He had served in the Knesset for a time as a member of the Land of Is- rael movement before it merged with Likud and, at his death was head of the Nature Preserves Authority. Gen. Yoffe was born in Yavniel, Israel, and edu- cated in England. He was an Dr. Israel Elson Dr. Israel C. Elson, a de- ntist active in Jewish organizations here before his retirement to California approximately seven years ago, died April 11. Dr. Elson, 82, lived in Camarillo, Calif. In Detroit, he was a member of Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, Bnai Brith, the American Jewish Congress. He leaves his wife, Thelma; a son, Dr. H. Ed- ward of Ventura, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Kates of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; and a granddaughter. Serv- ices in Ventura. officer of Hagana, the Jewish defense force in Mandate Palestine from 1936 to 1939 and served in Gen. Orde Wingate's special Night Squads which pro- tected Jewish settlements during the Arab riots in that period. He served in the British army's Palestine unit from 1940 to 1946 and from 1948 to 1956 was commander of the Israel army's northern and southern commands. Philip Aaron Philip S. Aaron, president of Cy Aaron- Publication Co., died April 9 at age 44. Born in New York, Mr. Aaron was graduated from Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh, Pa. He was president of the Legal Chronicle. He leaves his wife, Sally; a son, Craig; a daughter, Kathy; his mother, Mrs. Pearl Kasoff Aaron; and a sister, Mrs. Lydia LeHuray. * * * NEYMAN LOUIS GOLDMAN, 90, died April 12. Survived by three sons, Arthur, Sidney and Milton; three daughters, Mrs. Irv- ing (Helen) Sallan, Mrs. Harvey (Selma) Ellias of California and Mrs. Sylvia Bellamy of Los Angeles, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. * * * PEARL BELLE GREENFIELD, 62, died April 10.
