culinary competition when
the Professional Culinary
Art Salon opens in Cobo
Hall, Sunday and Monday.
About 50 professional
chefs from as far away as
Grand Rapids and Louis-
ville, Ky. will display 150 to
200 platters and buffets of
their finest cold and hot food
(displayed cold) and pas-
tries.
Past chefs salons have
been big hits with the public
because of the decorated
cakes, fish and other food
items and spectacular
carved ice and tallow cen-
terpieces on display.
Judging is by a
member of the U.S. Culi-
nary Olyinpic Team,
Executive Chef Daniel
Hugelier of the Detroit
Athletic Club, Master
Chef Milos Cihelka of
Golden Mushroom and
Chief Judge Chef Hans
Beuschkens of the Minor
Co., Windsor, Ontario,
who is chairman of the
World Congress of C _ hef
Societies.
The public is invited to
view the entries . . . Sunday
noon to 6 p.m. and Monday
noon to 8 p.m. . . Admis-
sion is couple of dol

At the same time, the
public' will be able to view
the student culinary arts
salon, displaying works of
food service students from
14 high school and
vocational-technical
schools and 12 colleges and
universities from as far
away as Big Rapids- and
Midland.
The salon is sponsored by
the Michigan Restaurant
Association and Michigan
Chefs de Cuisine, in con-
junction with MRA's Michi-
gan and Great Lakes Food
Service Show being held in
another section of Cobo Hall
for restaurant industry
representatives only.
