He is sur- vived by his wife, two sons, one daughter and a brother, Cantor Shabtai Ackerman of Detroit and Florida. * * * Rabbi David Nelson, center, of Cong. Beth Shalom and Rabbi James I. Gordon of Young Israel of Oak-Woods, were in New York recently to attend a special organizational meeting of the Israel Bond Na- tional Rabbinic Cabinet. Mrs. Hermelin is chairman of the Metro De- troit Women's Division. Special guest at the cocktail party will be Razi Rom, president of Cycon Computerized Systems of Israel. He will visit Detroit to meet with community leaders as part of the -state of Israel's "Operation Enterprise," a group of 38 young Israeli business lead- ers who will visit 120 corn- munities in the U.S., Canada, Latin America and Europe between Sunday and April 15 to discuss cur- rent developments in Is- rael's economy. * * * The Metro Detroit State of Israel Bonds Executive Board has several new members. Copenhagen Synagogue 150 The 150th anniversary of - the Copenhagen Synagogue will be marked Tuesday at ceremonies televised throughout Denmark and attended by Queen Mar- grethe II and her husband Prince Henrik. According to Detroiter Mrs. Jeanne Turkel, the synagogue has remained in its original location for 150 years. Mrs. Turkel, a native of Copenhagen, attended the 100th anniversary in 1933 Royal Oak Couple Receives Honors from Yad Vashem Mr. and Mrs. Janny (Myndert) Blom of Royal Oak have been named to re- ceive a medal of honor and the honor of planting a tree in the Avenue of the Right- eous in Jerusalem. The Bloms, who hid a Jewish couple in Holland during World War II, re- ceived the honor from Yad Vashem, Israel's memorial to victims of the Holocaust.. Sister Carol Rittner of Mercy College, who is active in Holocaust educa- tion, gathered the materials needed by the agency to document the couple's heroic action. The Bloms, then resi- dents of Holland, hid a Jewish couple, Dr. and Mrs. Samuel Vreedenburg in their home from July 1942 to May 1945. LENA BERMAN, 88, of Southfield, died April 5. German Jews Numbers Are Down Slightly BONN (JTA) — The Frankfurt-based Central Welfare Office of Jewish Communities in West Ger- many has reported a very small drop in the number of Jews currently registered in the Federal Republic. They total 28,202, about 700 fewer than were regis- tered as of July, 1982. The number is expected to de- cline further. The largest Jewish com- munity is in West Berlin where 6,548 Jews are regis- tered, followed by Frankfurt and Munich. ZOA Parley in Pittsburgh NEW YORK — The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) will hold its 83rd national convention April 28 through May 1 in Pittsburgh. Those scheduled to ad- dress the more than 1,000 delegates include Sen.
