COMMEND RABBI JACK GOLDMAN
ON HIS SILVER ANNIVERSARY
IN THE RABBINATE

Members of the Detroit Area Retail Kosher Meat Dealers
Association extend hearty felicitations and best wishes to
Rabbi Jack Goldman, Administrator of the Metropolitan Kas-
hruth Council of Michigan, on the occasion of his twenty-fifth
anniversary in the American Orthodox Rabbinate.

Rabbi Goldman received his rabbinical training at the Rabbi
Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University,
where he received Semicha from Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik
and the late Rabbi Dr. Samuel Belkin, in 1958. In the same
year, Rabbi Goldman also received Kabalah as a Mohel from
the late Rabbi Dr. Samuel J. Skolnick, then president of the
Mohalim Association of the United States.

Always active in community interests, especially the obser-
vance of Kashruth, Rabbi Goldman served as the spiritual
leader of Orthodox congregations in New Jersey, Pennsyl-
vania, Florida, and Tennessee before he came to Michigan
with his family, in 1964.
Rabbi Goldman continued his secular education, acquir-
ing a Master's degree in English from Wayne State University,
in 1968, a degree as Doctor of Philosophy in English from the
University of Detroit, in 1973, and another Master's degree in
comparative religion from the University of Detroit, 1977.

In 1958, the year of his ordination, Rabbi Goldman founded a
Kashruth Council that exists to this day, under the name Met-
ropolitan Kashruth Council of Michigan. One of the most
active Kashruth councils in the midwest, this organization has
exerted itself in raising the quality of Kosher foodstuffs, while
successfully reducing the cost of Kashruth to the consumer.

Members of the Detroit Area Kosher Meat Dealers Association
are particularly grateful to Rabbi Goldman for his enthusiastic
support and encouragement and for the many hours that he
has spent, as a Kosher food consultant, providing needed
guidance to the Association and its members.
