Phoenix luckily receives.
TRIED THE carry-out at
Larco Bros. in Country Vil-
lage Center, 12 Mile and
Evergreen . . . and again re-
ceived a very pleasant ex-
perience. . . The Veal Col-
ombo and Filet were both
still piping hot . . . also ex-
cellenfminestrone soup and
mostacioli.
Not surprising was that
all the dishes brought home
were so very good . . . Mark,
Duke and Mike Larco have
been getting only raves
since opening their carry-
out operation a short while
ago.
28th ANNIVERSARY
of Hoa Kow Inn, Nine Mile
west of Coolidge in Oak
Park, has a special menu
plus its regular . . . for Can-
tonese, Szechuan and Man-
darin dishes ... the 10-item
anniversary bil
l of fare in-
cludes two vegetarian dis-
hes, chicken, beef, lamb and
seafood plates . . . all out of
the ordinary and very tasty.
When Hoa Kow opened 28
years ago, it took over a shoe
store . . . and was so well re-
ceived that expansion plans
were made not too long af-
ter.
SISTER WAITRESS
act with pleasant, courteous
and smiling gals Shelly and
Barbara Rogoff, daughters
of Roy and Sally Rogoff, at
Stage & Co. on the
Boardwalk, Orchard Lake
Rd. south of 15 Mile . . . Jack
and Harriet Goldberg are
getting ready for liquor
being served very soon .. .
Cocktail waitresses may be
used.
THE OLD FERRY
docked behind Veteran's
Memorial downtown won't
open as the Landsdowne
Restaurant until October
. . It is owned by Specialty
Restaurant Corp. who sent
designers scrambling for
new and less-expensive re-
novation plans for Detroit's
first floating restaurant.
I LIKE GETTING
brewed decaffeinated coffee
in a glass mug with handle
... at Darlin' Lilly,'s Or-
chard Lake Rd. between 12
and 13 Mile . . . Pam Martin
with Pizzazz is making
with the good listening and
dancing happy music.

Israel 'Bugging'
Foreign Press?

TEL AVIV (JTA) - The
Foreign Press Association
(FPA) in Israel, whose
membership includes over
100 foreign and local corre-
spondents representing
newspapers, news agencies
and radio and television
services around the world,
has protested to Premier
Menahem Begin and De-
fense Minister Moshe Arens
following published reports
that censors tap the tele-
phone and telex lines of
foreign journalists.
The FPA letter followed a
report last week in Maariv
quoting a speech by an un-
named censorship official to
Tel Aviv high school stu-
dents in which the charges
of wire tapping were made.

• Dear Sadie

While in town visiting relatives, we
had lunch at the Pickle Barrel Deli.
What Yiddishe tam! Their food was su-
perb! Their homemade mushroom bar-
ley soup was just like bubbie used to
make. Do you remember? And the
chopped liver, m-m-m, served with hot,
crispy rye bread. 0i, I wish we had a deli
t like this in our town.

The following evening we tried the
Pickle Barrel for dinner. 0i, what a
mechiya! I had the brisket of beef and
Sammy had the stuffed cabbage. De-
licious!! It came complete with soup,
salad, potato, vegetable and a bread
basket. Oh, and each table had a barrel
7 of fresh dill pickles.

All under $6. Do you believe it? How •
* lucky you are to have such a place in •
• your town.

Mollie
