In an effort to minimize
the financial impact on con-
sumers purchasing kosher-
for-Passover products, the
Vaad Horabonim and Mer-
kaz have released a holi-
day Koshergram listing 45
categories of products that
do not require any special
certification for Passover
use.
Brand names include
items such as Alka Seltzer,
Bayer Aspirin, Tylenol Tab-
lets, Contac Capsules, 'all
stick deodorants, Miss
Breck, VO5 hairspray,
Scope mouthwash, Easy-Off
oven cleaner, Estee Lauder
perfume, Head and Shoul-
ders shampoo, Prell sham-
poo, Ivory and Safeguard
soaps, and Crest and Gleem
toothpaste.
Food items include Her-
shey's Cocoa, Folger's and
Nescafe coffees, Alba In-
stant Nonfat Dry Milk, any
frozen fruits without syrup
or additives, Birds Eye fro-
zen vegetables without
additives ,(except for beans,
corn, and peas), Realemon
lemoii juice, Tropicana
fresh orange juice,
Chatham or Farm Maid fro-
zen orange juice, Morton
non-iodized salt, Big Chief
or Domino • white
granulated sugar, Sucaryl
sugar substitute and reg-
ular Lipton teabags.

Meanwhile, Faygo Bev-
erages Inc. announces that
it will produce five flavors
certified
-kosher for
Passover under the supervi-
sion of the Vaad Horabonim
of Greater Detroit and Mer-
kaz. This special supervi-
sion will extend only to
Passover and will be iden-
tified by a "COR-P" symbol
on the bottle caps of- orange,
rock n' rye, redpop, root beer
and club sodas.
Rabbi Jack Goldman,
administrator of. the Met-
ropolitan Kashruth Council
of Michigan, also issued a
list of prothicts that may be
used for Passover without
bearing Passover labels, in
an effort to help 'consumers
reduce their costs for the
holiday observance.
These include: frozen raw
fruits and vegetables (ex
cept for beanS, peas, corn,
rice, and other legumes),
dried fruits which contain
no oils, corn syrup, or other
, legume derivatives, pure
cocoa, bay leaves, sour salt,
unflavored tea and tea bags,
'powdered detergents which
are kosher all year, all liq-
uid detergents, except for
liquid "All," unground
spices (excluding mustard),
aluminum foil and plastic
wraps, scouring powder,
kosher frozen fish, poultry,
and meat (unpickled and
unflavored), Valley Lea
milk powder, the following
coffees: A & P, Hills
Brothers, Melita, and
Taster's Choice, granulated
cane and beet sugar (but not
confectioner's sugar, which
must have reliable Passover
labeling), silver polish, cop-
per and metal polish and
pure bee honey.

use, without special label-
ing: aspirin, Bufferin, Ana-
cin, Benadryl, boric acid,
Colace, C.ontac, Demerol,
Digitalin, Emetrol,
Enfamil, epsom salt, isop-
ropyl alcohol, Kaopectate,
Liquiprin, Maalox, unfla-
vored milk of magnesia, nit-
-roglycerine, Serpasil,
Similac, Sinutab, Sweet-10,
Valium, and others.
'Many drugs do contain
leavening and other. forbid-
den substances. Drugs
should not be used during
Passover unless absolutely
necessary. When in doubt
about the kashrut of a drug
or other food product, con-
sult an Orthodox rabbi.
