TORONTO (JTA) —
There are currently 100 in-
vestigations being con-
ducted by the Royal Cana-
dian Mounted Police into
possible extradition of Nazi
war criminals living in
Canada, according to
Solicitor-General. Robert
_Kaplan.
The -Cabinet MiniSter,
addressing a Bnai Brith
Covenant Breakfast said
the issue of former Nazis
living in Canada is still a
priority for the government.
But until new avenues are
established to deal with
suspected war criminals,
the federal government will
concentrate its efforts on ex-
tradition, he said.
Kaplan, whose consti-
tuency is in Toronto, said
the government will con-
tinue to pursue war crimi-
nals because morally it is
the right path to follow.

NEW YORK — A report
and analysis of the 1982
election returns just re-
leased by the American
Jewish Committee indi-
cates that there has been a
decline in racist or ethnic
voting, that Jews have re-
turned to traditional voting
patterns, and that the ex-
treme right-wing was at a
low ebb.
"The 1982 election re-
flected an increased matur-
ity and tolerance that
should please all . Ameri-
cans, and especially Jewish
Americans," the report said.
The report cited the fact
that Jewish voters in
California preferred
Thomas Bradley, the black,
Democratic candidate for
governor, over the Republi-
can, George Deukmejian, by
more than 3 to 1, and Mario
Cuomo, the non-Jewish,
Democratic candidate for
governor of New York, over
his Jewish Republican op-
ponent, Lewis Lehrman, by
2 to 1. The report also stated
that more. Jews, Catholics,
blacks and Hispanics were
elected to the 98th-Congress
than ever before.
