THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS

Beth El to Host Max Dimont
as Scholar-in-Residence

WO
FAI
US.

Early on the morning of January 18th,
a wind-whipped fire destroyed much of
Congregation Beth Abraham Hillel Moses
synagogue.
Yet, even before the-last embers died,
something special was born . . . or, perhaps,
re-born. A spirit of understanding. And love.
The concern and support of our congregational
family was immediate and inspiring. The
condolences and offers of help from our sister
synagogues did them proud. And the generous
assistance from churches and individuals
outside the Jewish community added new luster
to the meaning of Brotherhood.
We want to thank all of you who cared
during our trial by fire.
But words fail us. So our actions will have
to speak for us: Already, plans for the new
synagogue are going forward. Already, daily
and sabbath services are being held in the
undamaged part of the building (where all are
welcome to join us).
Already, you can feel the excitement.
