Rabbi Joel Wittstein, educational director, will deliver the sermon on "The New School." Special honors will be ac- corded to teachers who have been with the school for many years. Forthcoming Sabbath events include a visit by scholar-in-residence Dr. Michael Cook, who will speak at the March 4 service on "The Jewish-Christian Dialogue"; soprano Cheryl Bensman, who will join Cantor Harold Orbach in singing the March 11 serv- ice; and the presentation of Dr. Morton Gold's "Sacred Service, Opus 18," on March 18. Dr. Cook, professor of in- tertestamental and early Christian literature at He- brew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cin- cinnati, also will speak at a March 5 luncheon and a breakfast on March 6. His weekend appearance is sponsored by the temple's Dr. Robert B. Goldberg Memorial Fund, and is planned by the adult educa- tion committee under the chairmanship of Dr. Bruce L. Danto. Dr. Cook will speak March 5 on the subject "Common Themes in Passover and Easter, a program to which mem- bers of the Christian clergy are being invited. His talk March 6 is on "A Jewish Understanding of the Crucifixion," and Dr. Cook will show slides of the famed Passion Play pre- sented every 10 years at Oberammergau in Ger- many. Aid Recipients WASHINGTON (ZINS) — The proposed foreign military assistance bill be- fore Congress would give Is- rael and Egypt the same amounts as 1983, nearly half the total assistance package. If Congress adopts the proposal, Israel will receive $2.485 billion and Egypt would receive $2.075 billion of the $9.2 billion program.
