Beth Achim's Sis- terhood, Men's Club and Mr. and Mrs. Club, in con- junction with the American Red Cross, will host a blood drive Feb. 20. The drive will be held in the youth lounge from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Modern medical advances such as sophisticated surgi- cal procedures and long- term cancer therapy have created a growing demand for blood. The American Red Cross must collect 1,000 pints of blood daily to meet the needs of the people in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and St. Clair Counties. A special affiliate mem- bership rate is being offered at the Jimmy Prentis Mor- ris Branch of the Jewish Community Center. Persons who join the Cen- ter at the affiliate rate are * * * CPR Class Set • At Maple-Drake The Jewish Community Center and Lifeline Train- ing Services will present a three-hour program on car- diopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) 7 p.m. Tuesday in Shifman Hail of the main Center complex. The course will include instruction in mouth-to- mouth resuscitation, first aid techniques for choking victims, CPR and general principles of rendering basic first aid. Persons attending the "Save a Life Night" will have an opportunity to practice the procedures on manikins. American Red Cross certification will be awarded upon successful completion of the program. There is a charge for text materials.
