Quakes Rattle
Eilat Region

TEL AVIV (JTA) —
Three minor earthquakes
shook. the Eilat area last
week in the fourth series of
shocks and tremors in the
region during the past
week. In all, over a dozen
tremors have been recorded
by Israeli seismologists.
But even- in Eilat and its
immediate area, most resi-
dents did not know they had
experienced an earthquake
until they heard about it on
their radios. No damage or
casualties have been re-
ported. The center of the
quake activity has been at
Neuiba, some 25 miles
south of Eilat.

PARIS (JTA) — France is
planning to send additional
troops to-Beirut to reinforce
the multi-national force.
The decision was reportedly
taken as a result of recent .
attacks against members of
the French contingent. In
the latest of a series of such
incidents two Frenchmen
were wounded last week on
the city's seafront.
Defense Minister Charles
Hernu has asked the
Foreign Legion command to
prepare for the dispatch of
several companies which
will join the 1,654 French
marines already in Beirut.
