Tickton takes great pride in the Zionist activi- ties and the literary skill of his late father, Daniel Tickton, who, until his very last — he was 86 when he died — retained a love for journalism. He had been an associate of Nahum Sokolow when the eminent leader who was later to become president of the World Zionist Organization, was editor of the Hebrew Hatzefira. Daniel Tickton became totally blind when he de- cided to study accountancy. He passed the CPA tests and practiced accountancy in the William Isenberg firm for 20 years. His liter- ary works, including many short stories, were pub- lished in The Jewish - News. Tickton states that lie takes pride in following his father's devotion to Zionism and Israel. He has been a guide in planning Balfour Concert programs of the Zionist Organization of De- troit for many years. Tickton was married to the former Mamie Mal- dowsky in 1940. They have one son, Stanley, who is pro- fessor of mass communica- tions at Norfolk (Va.) State University, and two grand- children. ON SALE NOW! NEW YORK — Dr. Charles Kremer met with leaders of the Romanian Or- thodox Church in America Agam Brukman Ebgi Ginzburg Kadishman Friday, February 11, 1983 - 49 DR. KREMER last week in New York to request that the church leaders defrock Archbishop Valerian Trifa of Grass Lake, Mich. Dr. Kremer, a New York dentist, has been seeking prosecution of Trifa for more than 30 years, ever since he learned in the 1950s that the accused war criminal had entered the United States. Dr. Kremer had been try- ing for five years to set up a meeting wiht the church leaders. The Jewish Press reported that church lead- ers are continuing to refuse to examine the case Fr. Leonid Kishkovsky of Long Island told Dr. Kremer that Trifa was the victim of "a hangman's jury" and that the U.S. government had not proved that Trifa was a war criminal. The U.S. had been pre- pared to prove their case last fall, but Trifa halted the Detroit trial by agreeing volunatrily to deportation. Subsequently, both Swit- zerland and Italy have re: fused to accept him for resi- dency and the United States is still seeking a country that will accept him. Fr. Kishkovsky told Dr. Kremer that it was 30 years before the U.S. de- cided to bring Trifa's case to trial and it may take 25 years for the church to re- view the case. Bishop Dmitri of Dallas agreed to examine Dr. Kremer's documents on Tri- fa's Iron Guard activities in Romania but added that any decision made on the archbishop will not be made public. .... 855-3118 VALENTINE'S WEEKEND SPECIALS FEBRUARY 11 THRU FEBRUARY 15 - Art Deco PERFUME BOTTLES Hand Blown In Israel Regular $42 ..............Sale Price $32 CRYSTAL LOVE BIRD FIGURES By Kosta Boda Regular $32 ............Sale Price 9 995 Our New Made In Israel Purchases Include: Sabbath Candlestick Holders, Kiddush Cups, Mezzushas.
