Wine Company Official Gets
Canal Founders Award

Meyer Robinson, right, of Lawrence, L.I., chair-
man of the board and treasurer of Monarch Wine Co.,
producers of Manischewitz Wine, is presented the
Canal Founders Award of the Israel Bond Organiza-
tion by Lt. Col. Baruch Spiegel of the Israel Defense
Forces. A Canal Founder is an individual who invests
$100,000 or more in Israel Bonds to provide "seed
capital" for Israel's Mediterranean-Dead Sea Canal
project.

Africans May Renew Ties With Israel

NEW YORK (JTA) — Af-
rican nations which broke
off relations with Israel a
decade ago are beginning to
have second thoughts, ac-
cording to an Israeli official.
Avi Primor, director of
African Affairs in the
Foreign Ministry, told a
meeting of the Anti-
Defamation League of Bnai
Brith that many African
nations had hoped to gain
favor with Arab countries

Record Divorce
Rate for Druze

NAZARETH (JNI) — The
Druze divorce rate reached
a record 11 percent last
year, according to statistics
published last month by the
Religious Affairs Ministry.
There were 472 Druze
couples married and 52
couples divorced in 1982,
compared to a 4.5 percent
divorce rate among the
similar number of Druze
marriages in 1977.
