Rabbi Daniel Syme to Deliver Address
at Affiliate Shabat Observance at Temple

Rabbi Daniel Syme, di-
rector of education for the
Union of American Hebrew
Congregations, will be
guest speaker at Temple Is-
rael at 8:30 Rm. services to-
day.
The occasion is Affiliate
Sabbath when the temple
pays tribute to its sister-
hood, brotherhood, couples
club and youth group and
the leadership of each
group.

Rabbi Syme was ordained
at Hebrew Union
College-Jewish Institute of
Religion in 1972.
He has served the Reform
movement nationally since
that time, first as assistant
director of the National
Federation of Temple
Youth, then as assistant na-
tional director of education
and assistant director of the
Commission on Jewish
Education.
He has been national
director of both bodies
since 1977.
He holds a doctorate in
education from Columbia
University, and has taught
on the campus of the HUC-
JIR in New York.

Mail Are Mixed

NEW YORK —A mailing
which combined two fund
raising appeals — one
from the American Insti-
tute for Cancer Research,
the other from an anti-
Israel lobbying and prop .
aganda group — was the re-
sult of a mix up at the mail-
ing house which had both as
clients, it was disclosed by
the Anti-Defamation
League of Bnai Brith.
The ADL investigated the
mailing after its regional
offices in New York, New
Jersey, Ohio, Connec-
ticut, Illinois, Cal-
ifornia, Georgia and
Texas received complaints.

Ailene, also a member of the
NATE board, Rabbi Witts-
tein conducts workshops
and practica for NATE, for
various religious schools
and for conclaves through-
out the country.
Both are certified as
teacher trainers, and
have prepared numerous
books and materials for
use in teacher training
and educational pro-
gramming.
Rabbi Wittstein will
serve a two-year term
through 1985, during which
time he will serve on the
board of the UAHC and on
its executive committee.
