Students Hold
Protest Dances

JERUSALEM (JNI) -
Israeli high school students
initially reacted to a
nationwide teachers' strike
in early January with
demonstrations of their
own. The demonstrations
quickly turned into dances
throughout the country.
Teachers had withheld
grades and canceled field
trips after the government
failed to implement all the
recommendations of a
commission on the status of
teachers.
The teachers decided to
return to work only minutes
after the students ended
their demonstrations and
dances in Jerusalem, Tel
Aviv, Ramat Gan and
Haifa.
