go to Glen Oaks. Youth who
have skis should bring
them. Rental skis will be
available. Drivers are

snow, an indoor activity will
be conducted.
The Sunday Morning
Breakfast Club, Talit and
Tefilin, will meet for serv-
ices 9 a.m. Sunday. Break-
fast and bowling will follow.

In athletic competition
Machar BBG swept the
championships of the vol-
leyball tournament, bowl-
ing tournament and ping
pong competitions. L'Chaim
AZA won the AZA basket-
ball tournament while
Herzl AZA, Windsor, won
the AZA ping pong cham-
pionship and Samson AZA
won the bowling competi-
tion.
Fanny Brice BBG will
sponsor a dance open to the
entire Jewish youth com-
munity at 8 p.m. Saturday
at Adat Shalom Synagogue.
The theme of the dance will
be "Sock Hop" and music
will be provided by Don
Eizen.
The AZA basketball
league will begin Jan. 23,
and will be played on
consecutive Sundays
through April. Games
will be played at Oakland
Community College, Or-
chard Ridge Campus, at 9
a.m. The BBG volleyball
league will also begin
Jan. 23, at the same
facility during the same
time period.
Applications for the re-
spective leagues have been
mailed to all nationally-
registered members of the
Michigan Region AZA and
BBG. Additional applica-
tions may be obtained from
chapter presidents. Chapter
registration must be turned
in by Monday. Coordinator
for AZA basketball is Gary
Fealk of Samson AZA and
coordinator for BBG vol-
leyball is Julie Callton of
Shalom Aviv BBG.
The mid-year evaluation
meeting for all BBG chapter
presidents will take place
3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the
Dubin Meeting Room at the
Bnai Brith Building. The
next BBYO adviser group
meeting will take place 7:30
p.m. Monday at the BBYO
office. Positions are open for
volunteer AZA and BBG
advisers for chapters
throughout the Metropoli-

Art Competition
Winners Told
Bertha Cohen received
the top prize in the first an-
nual Helen L. DeRoy Pur-
chase Prize Art Competi-
tion sponsored by Oakland
Community College.
She took the top prize for
her watercolor entitled,
"Rose Study." The painting
will be exhibited with other
selected competition entries
in the new Orchard Ridge
Performing Arts Building
from Feb. 11 to 20 and will
become part of the campus'
permanent collection.
Deborah Kashdon re-
ceived an honorable men-
tion award for her work
entitled, "Museum Cross
Section."
Participants at the recent
New Year's Family Camp
sponsored by the Fresh Air
Society dedicated the new
Rabbi Morris B. Adler
Chapel at Shabat morning
services Jan. 1. The chapel
built as an addition to the
Adler Pavilion is located at
the Butzel Conference Cen-
ter in Ortonville.
Construction of the
chapel was made possible
through an endowment
provided by the Trustees of
the Rabbi Adler Memorial
Foundation as a living
memorial to the late Rabbi
Adler and as a way to per-
petuate his ideals.
Michael Zaks is executive
director of the Fresh Air
Society.
Helping officiate at the
Shabat morning service

family in the Fresh Air

Grant to Fresh Air Benefits
Learning Disabled Children
The Fresh Air Society
was recently awarded a
$25,000 grant from the
Skillman Foundation to
continue its developmental
working in providing camp-
ing experiences for emo-
tionally impaired and
learning disabled children.
The program is conducted
at Fresh Air's Silverman
Village located in Orton-
ville.
The grant will make
possible the continuance of
scholarships, the recruit-
ment of trained staff and the
increased use of performing
arts for therapeutic _
achievement.
