Dr. Sidney Leib Is Honored by the ZOA
National Leadership on His 65th Birthday

BONN (JTA) — Jewish
groups and members of the
opposition have called on
the Bundestag to demand
repayment of the 1.2 million
mark ($500,000) debt incur-
red by the neo-Nazi Na-
tional Democratic Party in
1981.

Dr. Sidney Leib, former
president of the Detroit Dis-
trict of the Zionist Organ-
ization of America, was ac-
corded national recognition
for his labors in Zionism at a
reception in Boca Raton,
Sunday, with national ZOA
president Ivan Novick and
ZOA national committee
leaders in attendance.
In Florida, Dr. Leib con-
tinues his Zionist and com-
munity activities. He is on
the board of the Bnai Torah
Synagogue Men's Club in
Boca Raton and is activat-
ing Floridians in the Zionist
movement.
Dr. Leib also was honored
at a cocktail reception,
given by his wife Marion, on
the occasion of his 65th
birthday.
Dr. Leib, who divides
his time between his Boca
Raton and West Bloom-
field residences, is a re-
tired podiatrist. He is a
past president of the
American Association of
Foot Specialists and its
Michigan affiliate. He is a
past president and fellow
of the National College of
Foot Surgeons, a fellow
of the Academy of Ambu-
latory Foot Surgeons and
diplomate of the National
College of Foot Surgeons.
He was graduated from
the Ohio College of Podiat-
ric Medicine in 1947 and
was on the staff of the
former North End Clinic,

Among his other activi-
ties, Dr. Leib is a member
of Perfection Lodge of.
the Masons, a 32nd de-
gree Mason, a Shriner,
past president of the
Maurice Zeiger Lodge of
Bnai Brith and is a char-
ter member of Boca
Teeca Bnai Brith Lodge
in Boca Raton. Dr. Leib

and his wife, are on the
administrative commit-
tee of the Jewish Na-
tional Fund in Michigan
and the Leibs endowed a
forest of 10,000 trees in
the American Bicenten-
nial Forest in Jerusalem.
Dr. Leib has been a
member of the Israel Bonds
Prime Minister's Club for
several years. Dr. and Mrs.
Leib are members of the
Michigan Club of Palm
Beach County, Fla. With his
wife, Dr. Leib attended the
29th World Zionist Con-
gress in Jerusalem as a de-
puty delegate. •
Dr. Leib's Zionist activi-
ties follow a path set by his
late father, Joseph Leib,

who was the first secretary
of the Zionist Federation of
Romania and was among
the first participants in the
first World Zionist Con-
gress.
As a student at Wayne
State University, Dr. Leib
was president of the ZOA
chapter and his wife was
secretary.
The Leibs are the parents
of three children, Mrs. Har-
vey (Adela) Chayet, Dr.
Burton H. Leib and Mrs.
Louis (Ida) Goutman. They
are the grandparents of
eight.
