Employees of nurseries run by various women's organizations also joined the work stoppage. Kinder- garten and elementary school teachers planned a one-day strike Thursday and the non-teaching staffs at universities said they would strike for an indefi- nite period, beginning Monday. The strike, originally limited to municipal workers and employees of town councils and rural and urban agen- cies, was called by His- tadrut to force the Fi- nance Ministry to agree to wage increases to compensate for the ero- sion of real income by triple-digit inflation. His- tadrut is also demanding increased cost-of-living allowances. In paying the penalty as part of a consent agreement, the bank, which is head- quartered in Buffalo, was "neither admitting nor de-_ nying guilt," the newspaper said. The Arab Boycott of Is- rael office, located in Damascus, issued orders against 143 U.S. _firms and cleared two companies who complied with the boycott regulations. A total of 586 companies were banned during 1982 for conducting business with Israel.
