In civil libertarian ranks there are expressions of appreciation for his labors. In the cause of Israel he is respected among the most active of the battlers for the just rights for Jewish state. • Gourse is a New Yorker whose fame reached many communities and had its echoes in Michigan. In the last two decades, Gourse inserted dozens of advertisements in a number of newspapers, a score of them in the New York Times, and these were widely reprinted and were the basis for action in many communities. During the AWACS crisis he inserted paid appeals in newspapers, all in the form of adver- tisements for which he personally covered all the heavy expenses. He sent copies of them, with personal messages, to the 536 members of Con- gress. His controversy with An- thony Lewis, among others, evoked serious attention. Born in Fall River, Mass. Nov. 29, 1902, he was graduated in 1924 from Brown University, worked for newspapers in Boston and Philadelphia, later worked in advertising be- fore joining a brother in By Popular Demand KOSHER z AND KOSHER RESTAURANT (Wednesday Evenings 4:30 to 9 p.m.) Catering For All Occasions Call VIRGINIA KOZIN For Appointment: 626-0242 5075 West Maple Road West Bloomfield, Mich. In the process, he also supported the movements that have upheld Israel's and Jerusalem's justified positions, r including Chris- tians Concerned for Israel, National Christian Leader- ship Conference for Israel and Black Americans for Is- rael. He purchased and dis- tributed several copies of the Eckardts' "Encounter With Israel."
