Harwood, president of the United He- brew Schools board: Rose Kaye, chairman of the Mid- rasha; and Bernard Lander, president of Touro College of New York. The new graduate prog- ram on interdisciplinary Jewish studies and Jewish education or Jewish com- munal service will begin on Jan. 13. The program is designed to provide students with a deeper understanding of Jewish history and litera- ture while affording them the opportunity to acquire career-oriented skills for service in the Jewish com- munity. Men and women with a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution and a background in Jewish studies are eligible for ad- mission to the program. A working knowledge of He- brew is recommended. The opportunity to acquire He- brew language skills will be available to students enter- ing the program. Courses are scheduled in the late afternoon and evening for the con- venience of students with professional and per- sonal responsibilities. The course offerings for the winter semester in- clude: the Philosophy of Jewish Education, Dr. Robert Abramson and Dr. Gerald A. Teller, 6:30 p.m.; and the History of the An- cient Near East, Dr. Tikvah Frimer-Kensky, 8 p.m. The American Jewish Experi- ence will be offered as a cas- sette lecture series with Prof. Henry Feingold as a lecturer in conjunction with scheduled sessions for dis- cussions.
