Cultural Achievement
Award for the American

Jewish Congress at a New
York dinner Dec. 15.
The award winners are

Film Awards

NEW YORK — "Dore
Schary Awards for Film and
Video Productions" for col-
lege and university stu-
dents liave been established
by the Anti-Defamation
League of Bnai Brith in
honor of the late filmmaker
who was affiliated with
ADL for more than 40 years.
Schary, a writer, director
and producer who once
headed Metro - Goldwyn -
Mayer, Studios, served as
ADL's national chairman
from 1963 through 1970 and
as honorary national
chairman until the time of
his death in 1980.
In his long career as a
screenwriter and motion
picture executive, Mr.
Schary had 372 film cre-
dits, including. "Boys
Town," "Crossfire," "In-
truder in the Dust," "The
Red Badge of Courage,"
"Bad Day at Black Rock"
and "Sunrise at Cam-
pobello."
The ADL competition is
open to students majoring
in filmmaking or television.
Four monetary awards will
be presented annually for
the most creative fiction or
nonfiction film and video
productions on human rela-
tions themes.
