BONN (JTA) — Adolf
Hitler's Mercedes-Benz will
not be a part of a motor show.
in Essen next weekend, it
was decided by'the organiz-
ers of the exhibit.
The move to exclude Hit-
ler's car which he used when
he ruled Germany followed
news media reports about
its appearance at the ex-
hibit.
The black, 770 K model
sedan had been sent to the
show after it was sold to an
historic car museum in
Brussels by an unnamed
American collector in
Arizona.

Rabbi Kahane to Speak Dec. 15;
Suits Filed Against Southfield

Rabbi Meir Kahane and
the Jewish Idea have filed
two lawsuits against the
city of Southfield. They are
seeking $2 million in dam-
ages because the city can-
celed Kahane's Nov. 23
speech at the Parks and
Recreation Building and a
permanent injunction that
would allow Kahane to
speak on Dec. 15 and to be
rented city facilities in the
future under the same rules
as anyone else.
A spokesman for the

Jewish Idea said that
Southfield has agreed to
allow Rabbi Kahane to
speak at 8 p.m. Dec. 15 in
the Parks and Recreation
Building. A Federal judge
last Friday issued a tem-
porary injunction to that ef-
fect. The rabbTs topic will be
"Jewish Values in the 20th
Century."

of the American Civil Liber-
ties Union office in Detroit

the Michigan League,
where Kahane was
scheduled to speak, in-
formed the rabbi 45 min-
utes before his scheduled
talk that someone woud
have to post.a $1,000 se-
curity deposit because of
threats that were made
against the rabbi's ap-
pearance.
Simon said Kahane spoke
without posting the deposit.
He said there were heated
exchanges between Kahane
and Arabs in the audience,
but there was no violence.
Rabbi Kahane and his Kach
Movement in Israel advo-
cate ousting all Arabs from
Judea and Samaria, the Bi-
blical homeland of Israel.
Simon told The Jewish
News that, based on court
documents, the city of
Southfield- canceled
Kahane's Nov. 23 speech
after it received one tele-
phoned threat of Nazi vio-
lence if Kahane were
allowed to speak.

NEW YORK — Yeshiva
University has been
endowed with the largest
single scholarship program
ever given the institution
with the establishment of a
$3.75 million fund by the
Max Stern Foundation.
Each year, five high
school students; chosen for
their academic achieve-
ment and school and com-
munity leadership, will be
awarded the Stern Founda-
tion scholarships.
The scholarship fund was
established in memory - of
Max Stern, the founder of
the Hartz Mountain Corpo-
ration and a former Yeshiva
University board member.
Stern died last May.
