"One of the under-
standings is that KLM fares
and conditions should not be
different from those applied
by El Al. In order to con-
tinue our existing good rela-
tions with the .Israeli gov-
ernment, KLM has decided
not to offer the `Sta) On The
Way' program for travel
from the U.S.A. to Israel, as
this would be against the
spirit of our agreement. It
should further be noted that
El Al is not happy with any
competition by KLM in the
U.S.-Israel market.
"If it were not for the
above mentioned circum-
stances, we would, of course,
be happy to include Tel Aviv
in the "Stay On the Way'
program."

Phony Letter
Outside the Law
Editor, The Jewish News:
I noticed in your always
welcome Detroit Jewish
News a disturbing but
courageous letter from Sis-
ter Rittner highly critical of
an anti-Jewish piece
printed the the Detroit
News.
Only an abstracted por-
tion of this piece was quoted
by the good Sister Rittner,
but what was quoted as-
tounded and saddened me.
Knowledgeable in con-
siderable detail about On-
tario's stringent anti-racist
laws, I contacted the At-
torney General's office in
Toronto and a spokesman
for the Ontario Commission
for Human Rights.
I was told that material of
the type printed by the De-
troit News cannot legally be
disseminated in any form in
Ontario.
Furthermore, material of
this nature would be con-
sidered as contraband when
imported into Ontario from
any foreign source. Finally,
this material would be em-
bargoed from entering any
Ontario port and if found as
such, would be confiscated
and destroyed by the On-
tario Provincial Police. In-
dictable offense charges
would be laid against those
breaking this law. Such a
charge would be equivalent
to a felony in the • United
States.
My own feeling is that a
meaningful apology by the
Detroit News in its editorial
section would put an end,
forthwith, to this distres-
sing situation.
Such an apology would
not only balm the hurt to
the Detroit Jewish commu-
nity but to all decent De-
troiters and to all the GIs
involved in the World War
II struggle against Nazism,
who have been blasphemed.

Shopping for a "good buy" has be-
come one of America's favorite pas-
times. It's always fun to find new
things, see the new fashions and
perhaps pick up something new for
the house or family.
Another favorite pastime is to come
home from shopping, kick off the
shoes and relax with a good cup of
coffee. Maxwell House® Coffee. The
full-pleasant aroma and great-
tasting, satisfying flavor is
the perfect ending
to a busy shop-
ping day. Espe-
cially when
relaxing with
a close friend. The good talk. The
good feelings. The warmth are some
of the things that go along with
Maxwell House? Perhaps that's why
many Jewish housewives don't 'shop'
for Maxwell House! They simply
buy it. It's the "smart buy" as any
balabusta knows!
So, no matter what your prefer-
ence—instant or ground—when
you pour Maxwell House? you pour
relaxation. At its best...consis-
tently cup after cup after cup.
