Sixty students are tak-
ing part in the two-year dip-
loma program. They have
been accepted into the pro-
gram on the basis of possess-
ing a degree or six years'
_ professional experience in

communications. Specially
geared to meet "the serious
need to upgrade the train-
ing of journalists working in
Israel," the new program
combines elements of
undergraduate and
graduate programs offered
by university schools of
journalism in the United
States and the United
Kingdom, more than 30 of
which were consulted in
formulating the Bar-Ilan
curriculum.
The division will specifi-
cally aim at providing prac-
tical training and academic
achievement with substan-

raeli journalists.
The study program takes
into account students' aca-
demic background. Among
those are students with -
undergraduate degrees in
law, literature, education,
natural sciences, chemistry
and biology. Thirty of the
students are graduates of
Bar-Ilan University, 20
graduates of other univer-
