The formation of a Max
Mark Memorial Fund has
been announced by co-
chairmen Lillian Genser,
director of the Center for
Peace and Conflict Studies
at Wayne State University,
and Bryan Jones, chairman
of the WSU Political Sci-
ence Department.
Friends and colleagues of
Dr. Mark, according to Ms.
Genser, have established a
fund "to promote the central
theme and purpose of Prof.

Political Science Depart ,
ment at Wayne State Uni-
versity. In 1971-1972 he
served as visiting professor
at Hebrew University in
Jerusalem. Dr. Mark was
fluent in Hebrew as well as
Yiddish.

Society of Detroit, with
George S. McGovern,
former U.S. Senator, as
guest speaker.

The late Dr. Mark and
his wife spent seven
years during World War
II as refugees from Au-
stria in Tientsin, China.
While in Tientsin, he was
extremely active in
Jewish affairs and
elected president of the
Jewish community. Dur-
ing his stay, he organized
and delivered many lec-
tures on Jewish history.
In 1952, he began a 30-
year teaching career in the
