Just for one class . . . one day . . . as a visitor . . . and quite a difference from our time yesteryear. Happened during our re- cent visit with son Scott, who attends University of Texas in Austin . . . We sat through a history class with him . . . and honest to shakes, it couldn't have been more enjoyable .. . Was sort of a crown to our trip. The huge classroom of about 500 students were "psyched" into the era their teacher was to talk about . . . by listening to big band recordings, Ink Spots, Beer Barrel Polka, etc. . . . Sort of like warming up the audi- ence to a very interesting and informative lecture given through a microphone worn around his neck .. . The teacher in this class makes it easy for his stu- dents to learn properly . . . Sure wish it had been like this in our schooldays. CONGRATS . to Ed and Ann Bunin . . . on their 50th anniversary. RECENT FASHION . . . show by Israel Bonds Greater Metropolitan De- troit Women's Division .. . was a team effort that brought out the best in so many of these fine hard- working lassies . . . and all the others who donated their services . . . a 100 per- cent time-giving effort. Chairladies were . . . Linda Bloch and Linda Goldman . . . Hostess com- mittee co-chairgals, Miriam Shenkman and Celia Schwartz . . . Reservations committee co-chairlassies, Franka Charlupski and Rosa Schaumberg . . . Community education committee chairgals, Tillie Brandwine and Elaine Yaker . . . Decorations and visual techniques commit- tee chairlassie, Elaine Yaker . . . Prospect card committee chairgal Irma Katchke . . . Models corn- mittee head, Harriet Fuller . . . and Anne Helfman, cash collection chairgal. Also a fine hostess com- mittee that numbered 50 smiling members. During the brunch, Do- reen Hermelin was in- stalled as 1983-1984 Women's Division chair- lady, following a special tribute to outgoing chair- lassie Leah Snider ... and a witty pep talk in- terspersed with humor and good common sense by Doreen's hubby, David Hermelin. Kudos to everyone who worked on the 1982 Israel Bond Fashion Show . . . The 100 percent giving of their services was indeed a trib- ute. Recent column item about the excellent show omitted name of Kitty Wagner, who did such a fine makeup job with the 28 models . . . Wish we could mention names of everyone who donated their services . . . they surely deserve it. CONGRATS ... to t" Meyer Hertzberg . . . on his 73rd birthday. HOW TO GET your 7 handkerchief beautifully laundered . . . Be in a fash- ion show where Shirley Be- cker is narrating when she cj has the sniffles on stage . . . Shirley borrowed ours while we wore a $10,000 fur from Bricker-Tunis . . . and re- turned it so elegantly done . . . plus a box of three new,- monogrammed hankies . . . That's class. NEW BUSINESS DEPT. ... by Sid Brodie, daughter Laurie and her hubby Dennis Green .. . called Acu-Thin Systems of Mich., Greenfield in Oak Park . . . patented drugless non-medical device for weight control and behavior Acu-Thin Ear Stimulator invented by a doctor is based on ancient acu-pressure techniques;=, but without any skin pierc- ing.
