PARIS (ZINS) — Isam
Sartawi, a PLO official, ad-
dressed a World Jewish
Congress memorial meet-
ing in 'honor of Dr. Nahum
Goldmann, according to the
correspondent of the Israeli
daily Yediot Ahronot. -
The newspaper reported
that officials from the Israel
Embassy who attended the
memorial meeting were
embarrassed by Sartawis'
presence. A spokesman of
the World Jewish Congress
said that the PLO, official
was there at the personal
invitation of Goldmann's
widow and was not a guest
of the Congress.
Yediot Ahronot reported
that Sartawi, who has in the
past held a number of meet-
ings with Israelis, praised
Dr. Goldmann's efforts to
achieve Israeli-Arab peace.

executive board of the Na-
tional Federation of Temple
Brotherhoods — Jewish,
Chautaqua Society for
two-year terms at its 29th
biennial convention at the
Beverly Hilton Hotel, Los'
Angeles.
Stewart is a past vice
president of NFTB and past
president of Temple Israel.
Kahn is past president of
the Temple Emanu-El
Brotherhood and past ad-
ministrative Vice president
of the temple.
Bloom has served as trea-
surer of Temple Beth El
Brotherhood, and on the
temple bOard of trustees.

Israel Institute
Reunion Slated •
A reunion for partici-

pants of the 1969 Israel Col-
legiate Institute will be held
8 p.m. Saturday in the home
of Barbara Silberschein,
24739 Rensselaer, Oak
Park.
The institute was spon-
sored by the Midfasha and
United Hebrew Schools and
included students from De-
troit, Minneapolis and Kan-
sas City, who studied at the
Hebrew University in
Jerusalem.
Chairmen of the reunion
committee are: Ms. Sil:
berschein, Sandy Gross ,and
Elliot Sorkin.
Former participants in
the program interested in

Chajes Wins
Music Award

Julius Chajes, adjunct
assistant professor of piano
at Wayne State University,
received the 1982-1983
ASCAP (American Society
of Composers, Authors and
Publishers) Award for the
second consecutive year.
Chajes is the conductor of
the Center Symphony Or-
chestra, based at the Jewish
Community. Center.
