peace as well as in time of
war. He told of the medi-
cal provisions during all
wars, including the heal-
ing provided during the
Lebanese events. He em-
phasized that the aid
provided is never limited
to Jews, that Arabs • as
well as Israelis benefit
from the hospital's pro-

During his stay here, he
was greeted at a luncheon at
Sinai Hospital, Wednesday,
and he described his own
specialization in _plastic

his specialty as well as other
surgery progress derived
from Shaare Zedek Hospital
experience with the staff of
Providence Hospital prior to
his address at the dinner of
the hospital's friends on
Tuesday.

Dr. Ben-Hur told The
Jewish News about numer-
ous research projects his de-
partment is working on.
They include the develop-
ment of a temporary plastic
skin to cover burns, the arti-

own skin to treat burns, the
creation of bone, and - work

warfare.
Shaare Zedek Hospital
has ' developed a plastic
skin for temporary :use,
which Dr. Ben-Hur hopes
will be in widespread use
within a.year or two. He
said it solves several
biological problems con-
cerning bacteria, rejec-
tion and water permea-
bility. It will have a long
storage life and will be
inexpensive to produce.
He said the artificial skin
will also overcome objec-
tions to the use of skin from
cadavers, placenta mem-
brane or skin from pigs, al-
though such uses are con-
doned by Israel's rabbis.
