Israel Soldiers Charged With Assaulting Arabs TEL AVIV (JTA) — Seven Israeli soldiers went on trial before a military court on charges of beating, assaulting and humiliating Arab residents of the West Bank last spring. The defendants included an officer with the rank of major, three sergeants- major — the highest rank of non-commissioned officers — and three enlisted men. The charges against them are based on depositions by several members of the Peace Now movement who were on reserve duty at the time.
