WASHINGTON (ZINS) — U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz told a gather- ing of newsmen of two events that influenced his attitude towards Israel. The first situation in- volved a young Israeli, Joseph Levi, who was a stu- dent of Shultz's at the Uni- versity of Chicago. Upon the outbreak of the Six-Day War of June 1967, Levi re- turned to Israel, joined the armed forces and was killed in action. The second occasion was during a visit to Israel soon after Sadat's historic trip to Jerusalem. "I then noted," said Shultz, "a sudden change in the psychology of the Israelis who gave vent to a strong yearning in peace and to a feeling that peace was possible."
