Jewish Community Council Delegates to Hear Brodhead Congressman William Brodhead will address the Jewish Community Council Delegate Assembly 8 p.m. Monday in Rotenberg Hall at Cong. Bnai David. Brodhead will speak on "The Plight of Soviet Jewry and America's Foreign Pol- icy Vis-a-Vis the Soviet Union." Brodhead has lent his support to House Conccur- rent Resolution 330 which calls on the USSR to accept long-time refusnik Ida Nudel's visa application to emigrate to Israel after a four-year exile in Siberia. He has been a supporter of Soviet Jewry during his entire tenure in the House of Representatives. Also on the agenda will be a report from Council President David Lebenbom on his recent visit to Israel and Lebanon. ALLAN GALE Mushroom-Barley Soup Recipe By NORMA BARACH (Copyright 1982, JTA, Inc.) 21/2 lbs. short ribs, cut into serving pieces 1/2 lb. barley 3/4 cup lima beans 1 /2 lb. fresh mushrooms, cut up 3 carrots, sliced into 1 inch slices 4 stalks celery, cut into 1 inch slices 1 large onion, peeled, whole 8V2 cups of water Add short ribs, beans, bar- ley and carrots to the water in a heavy pot. Bring to a boil. Cook for 2-21/2 hours on a low heat in a covered pot. The meat should be nearly soft. Add re- maining ingredients and cook until the meat is done, about another 1 1/2 hours.
