After coming to the United States in 1956, he took over as manager of the Carpathia Kickers in 1957 . . . In 1958 his team tied the St. An- drews Scots for the league championship. Under Christof's guid- ance and coaching the Car- pathia Kickers became a national powerhouse which won the U.S. Amateur Championship in 1961- 1962, marking the first and only time a team from Michigan accomplished this feat.
