Some Israeli sources . have suggested that Draper seems to be speaking for Gemayel rather than for the U.S. It has become evident in recent weeks that the newly-elected Lebanese President is trying to dis- tance himself from Israel in order to improve his relations with the other Arab countries and with Lebanon's Moslem Majority. The Lebanese prime minister said this week that the Lebanese government ' was "paralyzed" in the areas controlled by Israel. The U.S. announced ear- lier this week that the multi-national force in Be- irut will begin street patrols in east Beirut. It also said that a decision on expand- ing the number of U.S. Marines in the force and adding other troops to the force, would not be made until there is an agreement on the withdrawal of foreign forces in Lebanon. On Sunday, Syria fired two missiles at Israeli planes flying over the Bekaa Valley. The missiles were fired from inside Syria and did not hit any planes. One Israeli was killed last week inside Lebanon. 3 DAYS ONLY FRI., SAT., SUN. GREAT IN SEASON STOREWIDE SALE Jordan Kahn Ltd. Instead, the theatrical group is demanding im- mediate recisioh of the ban imposed by the censors on the production and repealof all censorship regulations aimed at cultural activities. "The Patriot" by Hanoch Levin, a cabaret style revue rather than a play, opened in Tel Aviv last week in de- -fiance of the ban and despite a police warning that they would shut it down. The police did not, however, inteffere with the two per- formances given so far to packed houses. The censors found the production to be offen- sive to nationalistic and religious values and other traditions of Israeli society. But Attorney General Zamir, acting at the request of Neve Zedek, sent an implicit rebuke to the censorship board for imposing, the ban. Zamir maintained that censorship was permissable only in "ex- treme cases." The board,' for its part, complained that Neve Zedek was using it to gener- ate publicity for "The Pat- riot." According • to board chairman Joshua Justman, the actual production dif- fered appreciably from the script submitted to the cen- sors. Justman alleged that the playwright himself de- leted 40 percent of the orig- inal text including scenes the board had found offen- sive. INF W.C. Trojan "Son of C. The climax was reached during a large demonstra- tion in the capital, Bel- grade, when an effigy of Prime Minister Menahem Begin of Israel, bearing a yellow Star of David with the legend "Jude" was burned.
