Veteran Wins
Catholic Medal
Norman L. Berkley, de-
partment commander of
Michigan, Jewish War Vet-
erans, was awarded the
"Distinguished Service
Medal" by John Freeman,
state commander of the
Catholic War Veterans.
The Catholic War Vete-
rans presented the medal,
its highest award, "for serv-
ices as past president of the
Allied Veterans Council of
Wayne County and for serv-
ices rendered to the veteran
and his family."
Salad Recipe

8 medium .tomatoes, sliced
1 large onion, sliced in thin
rings
1 /2 cup black pitted olives
1/2 cup green pitted olives
1/2 cup olive oil
1 /3 cup cider or wine vinegar
4 tsps. of sugar
1/2 tsp. sweet basil
1 /4 tsp. white pepper
Mix all dressing ingredients
together and pour over the
vegetables, toss lightly, coat-
ing the vegetables. Refrigerate
at least two hours before serv-
ing. Serves 8.
