CASA Project Manual Printed NEW YORK —"Children At Risk: Making a Dif- ference Through the CASA Project" has just been pub- lished by the National Council of Jewish Women. "Children At Risk" de- scribes in detail the NCJW Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Demon- stration Program which provides specially trained volunteers in selected sites throughout the country to represent neglected, depen- dent and abused children through all stages of the juvenile or family court process. The 317-page manual was compiled by Michael Blady, NCJW's CASA proj- ect director. , The contents of the new manual include guidelines to: assessing a community's interest in and readiness for a CASA Proj- ect; developing the relation- ship between the project and the court and the De- partment of Social Services; project staffing, budgeting, and volunteer recruitment and training. The appen- dices include examples of all necessary forms and plan- ning aids, a glossary of legal terminology and a resource listing.
